Eleven Months

Lily is one happy little girl! She's just as pleased as can be with herself and the world around her. She smiles and laughs and babbles up a storm (dada is by far her favorite word). She's becoming much more independent, too, both in her play and in her desire to go off by herself and explore. She's fearless, which is a little unnerving as she's developed a sudden fascination with the edges of things--the couch, the bed, the stairs.

Lily has always liked books, and why not since she's surrounded by hundreds of them, but right now she's fixated on a few favorites. She wants us to read them to her over and over and over again, and we do. She likes to look at the pictures, and she seems mildly interested in hearing the words, but by far, her favorite part of reading books is turning the pages. The girl is an excellent page-turner! Here's what Lily is reading:

Lily has also begun playing with a marvelous set of blocks that were Luke's. Both Daddy and Luke like to build intricate block-castles and Lily loves to knock them down. She leaves no block standing.

Sometimes Lily thinks it's more fun to play perched atop the tub of blocks...

Lily is crawling everywhere and getting faster every day, though nothing makes her move quite so fast as the cat sitting just out of reach.
