Ten Months
Lily’s been so busy this month! After several relatively quiet months, the past few weeks have seen her achieving milestones at an amazing clip.
Milestone #1: Lily has begun to crawl! She discovered several weeks ago, during her nightly bath, that she could use her buoyancy in the water to scoot closer to her favorite starfish bath toy.
That translated in very short order to doing the same thing on dry land one day when she was desperate to get to her favorite “knockman” toy half way across the room. She’s been mobile ever since!
She is taking her time with this new skill, though. She’s not been especially eager to see how far and how fast she can get places on all fours. At least not yet. Hers is a more deliberate strategy, crawling to things or people that happen interest her at the moment. Otherwise she’s inclined to just stay put and putter with her toys.
Milestone #2: Lily is now enunciating consonant-vowel combinations. She was a little slow to come around to this one. Blame it on the (lack of) teeth. We think the onset of this new skill has everything to do with the long-anticipated appearance of two bottom teeth which have been glacially slow in coming. It seems they may finally be about to poke through. Lily’s been running her tongue across her lumpy and swollen lower gum lately, and when she does that and vocalizes at the same time, suddenly she's saying “dddddaaa” and “bbbaaaa” and “thaaaaaaa”. She’s even managed to say “dada” a number of times, but not yet in a way that suggests an intentional naming of her daddy. I think we’re still light years away from “mama”, by the way.
Milestone #3: Lily sat for her very first formal portrait a few weeks ago at school. Keep in mind as you admire these charming and amusing masterpieces, that the photo session coincided with morning naptime and so all of the babies, including Lily, were more than a bit bleary-eyed.

Wow! I find it so hard to believe she's 10 months already!!! I love the pictures and oh my gosh...she's mobile now! Look out!!!
Don't worry about the Halloween thing =) We're doing a Lion...and hopefully, if the weather cooperates, we'll be going to the Newark Halloween parade again next weekend if you're looking for something to do.
