The Calm Before the Storm

Heaven help us, it's snowing again, with another 18 inches predicted. Not being able to bear the thought of being housebound again, we decided to try to enjoy the first of the snowflakes with a walk downtown for dinner. It was such a lovely walk. Lily enjoyed trying to count all the snowflakes swirling down out of the sky, and the streets were quiet. We had a delicious dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant, and Lily--having decided she's outgrown lo mein--got her very own plate of sushi (of the cooked and vegetarian variety, mind you). I wish I had thought to bring my camera. She looked so grown up sitting happily in front of her very own plate of assorted sushi. The walk home was cold, and the snow was beginning to pile up rapidly. To warm ourselves, we stopped at our favorite coffee shop for a cup of steaming hot chocolate, with whipped cream of course! Lily was in heaven.

When we got home, we were greeted by the happy sight of Gigi's solar-powered light glowing cheerfully in the back yard amid the falling snow. Something tells me it won't be putting on a light show tomorrow night.
