Lily's Beach Adventure

Mom and Lily just returned from a five-day adventure with the Harper family in Cape May! Lily's first experience at the beach proved to be a bit overwhelming for the girl at first. With so much that was new to take in, Lily clung tenaciously to Mom for the first hour. Her anxiety eventually subsided, however, and she began to play with her beach toys and even dig a little in the sand down by the water's edge. Lily had a wonderful time playing with her cousin Grace and got lots of cuddle time with Nana, Pop, Aunt Meg and Uncle Tom. Lily's favorite discovery of the trip? Eating out at resaurants! We spent three mornings in a row at Uncle Bill's where Lily enthusiastically downed blueberry pancakes and eggs. She also loved the Ugly Mug where she bounced and wiggled to the loud music and hungrily demolished half a grilled cheese sandwich.


Lily plays outside the house in Cape May. We stayed in a quiet little neighborhood only a few blocks from the water that felt more like "Leave It To Beaver" than beach.


Lily got to spends lots of time with her cousin Grace.


The girls shared toys and hugs and kisses.


Mommy and Lily enjoy some ice cream on a hot September afternoon.


Lily absolutely loves ice cream. I could hardly shovel it into her mouth fast enough. Can't you see the longing in her eyes as she watches Mom take a bite of the cold, creamy goodness?


Lily was not sure at first what to make of all the sand and water and sea gulls and wanted to be held close to Mom.


Eventually she felt brave enough to take a walk down to the water's edge.


Lily tentatively watches the water from the safety of Mom's arms.


In the end Lily decided the beach was a pretty cool place!
