Favorite Stops
Here are some of the places Lily likes to stop and look as we walk around the house during the day. Some of these make her giddy with pleasure so she kicks her arms and legs like a swimmer. Some she just stares at for a long, long time.

A glass mobile of fish, salvaged by Luke from the Stone Harbor house Nana and Pop used to own.

A set of Russian-made matrushka nesting dolls I picked up in Berlin in 1978, when such things were still hard to find in the West. It happens to be set up near Amy's family "five generation" mothers picture.

An old souvenier plate from Valley Forge.

A raggedy Poinsettia plant from a Christmas almost 10 years ago that still goes strong, minus the soft holiday charm.

Old books, which are everywhere.

An old map on the wall.

"Fun Man." Luke made this when he was about 11 or 12, in the last burst of his long phase of Lego-play. He told me, "take this and put it somewhere so I don't take it apart again for the pieces." I put it up on a cabinet in the kitchen, popping out of an old pitcher (the legs are inside) and five or so years later, Lily has discovered it and made it one of her favorite stops.

Oh, how marvelous to see "home" through Lily's eyes! And to record these precious little details that would otherwise fade from our memories and become lost in time.
