Four Months

Our sweet Lily turns four months old today! She continues to amaze and delight us every day. She has begun to let out the most gorgeous belly laugh when you kiss her tummy or toes. She’s become keenly aware of Mom and Dad as important people in her life. She follows us around the room with her eyes and rewards us with a smile of delight whenever she sees us. She’s ‘talking’ more and more and has lots to say about the state of things in the Harper household. She has begun to roll over from front to back when she's on her belly. This seems to startle her, though, as if she can’t figure out how she got into this new position or how she’s going to get out of it. She continues to grow like a weed – we’ll find out exactly how much she’s grown in a few weeks at her next doctor’s appointment. Lily enjoys watching Baby Einstein DVDs on TV, something we find somewhat disconcerting because it absorbs her attention so completely. Yet she grins with such enthusiasm at the puppets that we find ourselves popping in the DVD just to wallow in the sight of her enjoying something so thoroughly. She can stand and sit very well with only a little support. And she has become quite interested in watching us eat. She will even open her mouth and lean toward whatever it is we’re eating or drinking as though hoping to have a taste herself. I’m guessing this means she’s ready to start her first real solid food - cereal. Lily started day care this week, going for a couple hours each afternoon after Dad goes to work. The first few days were definitely very traumatic for both Mom and Dad who weren’t ready to send her off into the world all by herself just yet. However, she seems to be adapting, slowly, as most kids eventually do. And we’re slowly adapting, too. Maybe the biggest milestone of all this month: to the very great delight of her mama (who has been on night-duty since going back to work), Lily has recently begun to sleep through the night. She even slept a record twelve hours one night!

And here’s our little girl, all pretty in pink:

Showing off those (still) baby blues.

Masquerading as Piglet on a cold April day, and none too happy about it.

Nice lid, kid!

Amy- I can't get over how much she looks like her mommy. You have such adorable photos of her.

Really? *lol* We think she looks so much like Doug, except for the eyes which are more like mine. Maybe it's in the expressions...
