Three Months
Another month flown by! Lily is rapidly blossoming into her own little person. She is now making sounds other than crying (thank heavens). Although, due to her reflux, crying still takes up more of her time and energy some days than we'd like. Still, when she's not crying she laughs and coos and vocalizes with enough intention and intonation to sound like she's having a conversation. She talks to her toys, to herself and to anyone who will listen. She also loves to be chattered at or sung to and often responds with a huge grin or giggle. She is much more interactive with her environment and enjoys things like looking at herself (or mom or dad) in the mirror and watching the rainbow patterns created on sunny days by a faceted sun-catcher that sail across the kitchen ceiling and walls. She is beginning to understand spatial relationships - we notice her looking back and forth between objects as though registering both their permanency and their relationship to each other. She has also begun to drool like a leaky faucet and produces prodigous spit-bubbles with the excess goo. When she gets tired of trying to get her thumb in her mouth she resorts to shoving in the whole fist and sucking on it so furiously you'd think we forgot to feed her. Lily can now sit up very well with support, a skill we are actively trying to encourage since many babies begin to outgrow the worst of their reflux as soon as they are able to sit up on their own.
And of course, we have pictures!

Blame Dad for this set-up!
