One Month

Lillian turns one month old today! I can't imagine there's one month in a baby's life where they change more rapidly or more completely than the first magical month. Lily has grown so much - we'll find out exactly how much on Monday. But we know she's already outgrown several of her shorter onesies and she's noticeably heavier when she falls asleep in our arms. Her face and her features have changed from brand-new newborn to wide-eyed, plump-faced baby. She has begun to gain control over her head and hands and can now direct her gaze and her attention to things that interest her and she can use her hands to both grasp and intentionally push away objects. She loves to study faces, especially dad's! She has also begun to notice brightly colored toys and will spend time contentendly contemplating stuffed monkeys and giraffes on her new playmat. Lily now has distinct cries to communicate her needs; the two we hear the most are the "I'm hungry" cry and the "I've got killer gas" cry. The later is almost always followed by a comically explosive poop and then beautiful, blessed silence.

Hangin' with Daddy.

Lily's favorite way to fall asleep.

Bath time

This is what happens when Daddy is in charge of getting the baby ready to go out on a cold day.

Saturday morning at Merenda Zug's.
